I teared up (ahem) while watching this video. She got a standing ovation from the audience and judges who doubted her at first - after she sang "I Dreamed a Dream" from the play Les Miserables. Just through that one audition, she became a world wide sensation and from a 47 year-old-unmarried-living with a cat nobody to TALENTED Susan Boyle from Britain's Got Talent. And if people dressed up as you on Halloween, that means you're really, really famous bebeh!]
Let's just say I have a little bookworm attack this holiday. A little, cause it's not like I read 30 books this holiday, and to be exact - I just read three books lol. Finally my bookworm mode is on after being switched off for a really, really long time. I loved reading books before, especially during my high school years, and I've read most of the books in my high school library. I even signed up to become a librarian so that I could have better access to the story books in the library besides scoring for cocurricular activities, of course. But since I entered the university, I became allergic to reading books. I don't know why, but I preferred to read blogs ever since. Not that it's a bad thing, but reading books is one great hobby that I regret neglecting because reading was supposed to be more crucial once I entered the university, even if I am just reading fictional stories. I've been neglecting reading novels for fun for the whole last semester - and if it wasn't for the Literature paper that I took which require me to read 5 novels, I would have read zero books for last semester. Seriously.
But during this holiday, my love for reading began to resurface. Yes, I've fallen head over heels again with reading. Not that I would read any book that you throw at me. It's just that I began to remember how it feels to imagine things just by reading. How exciting it is to read one page to the other without counting how many pages I've read so far. And how curious I am to know some vocabularies that I stumbled upon while reading. Honestly, I am bad with vocabularies. I have limited vocabularies so do not be surprised if you see me searching for the meaning of certain words in every page of the books that I read.
Here, I would like to share the three books that I've read. They are all quite similar in a way. The three main characters are female, and the writers are witty and humourous. And no, I am not going to tell you the synopsis of this story cause I guess my sister will do that *wink2*.
Looking for the Alibrandi was the first novel I finished reading during this holiday and I like the story very much. It was not as cliche as the other teen chic novels that I've read so far. The main character, Josephine Alibrandi, is a very bright girl and unlike the other teen chic novels that I've read, where the girls are always ignorant and humourous (eg: the typical Sophie Kinsella's main characters but we still love em) this character is truly different - we really gotta love her cause she's cynical, bright, sharp and pretty. And this book has already turned into a movie. What more can I say to convince you that this book is worth every second of your time? ;)
And this will be, Sophie Kinsella's another masterpiece. I proclaim it's her best so far (though I know my sister may disagree on this claim). I love this book because it is hilarious, full of drama and chaos, and it had surprises throughout the story. You gotta read this cause I can imagine this story to be turned into a movie one day.
Ha! This is another story worth reading. Compared to the other two books, this book is more laid-back and plain but it's definitely hilarious. The story is narrated through letters, e-mails, notes, instant messages, phone messages, etc and it's a creative way to tell a story from various point of views. Though it's simple compared to the other two, the addiction effect is still the same. I guess, you can treat this book as a dessert, while the other two books as the main dishes. They are not from the same stream but I need them all to fulfill my sudden books addiction.
