Looking for Inspiration...

Whenever we want to make a public speaking or a speech, it is advised that we should pick the title we are most familiar with, and which is better if your audience could relate to. So I have this oral communication and public speaking in English (HEK212) paper which needs all of the students to prepare their speech by the next week. The title is "Personal Experience" which is general by the way, so we ourselves had to find a specific title which is our personal experience and present it the next week. So here I am, at lost at what I should present the following week. I just had one idea in mind right now, which is "Stroke", since I had a bad experience with it. Not that I ever had stroke before, but my father was diagnosed with it when I was 18. But the problem is that I am bored to death reading the facts about stroke, what more to present it to the audience who would probably yawn the whole 3 minute if I present about it.

So the million dollar question is - What should I present huh??

Should I present about my shopping experience - which is not a really intriguing title since everybody knows about shopping well, or maybe I should present about the coping up with the hectic schedule of a university student, or maybe the benefit of studying in USM (yawn~).. OMG - I am running out of useful/acceptable/good ideas.

Maybe I should present this - how to make sleeping/eating in the lecture hall less obvious. Okay, here's a way:

1) Remember to bring a big book with you which you could use to cover your face - then voila, pretend to be engrossed in the book and actually what you were doing behind it was something else.

2) Sit behind someone who's taller than you in the lecture hall. Now you're free to do what you want, even to pick your nose.

3) Pretend to be rubbing your forehead. This will ensure you the chance to sleep for a few minutes.

Okay, I guess I have to get serious now.

Chao~!

Hmmm..talk about blogging? or what your blurness got you into? or how you adapt ur life in USM. What's so different about Penang's culture and that of Sarawak. Or a trip with family, friends, away from places you are used to. Just some suggestions. Hee hee

wow, Ping Ping... thanks for the mucho suggestions.. hehehe.. I may consider the 'what my blurness got me into' because got many comical experiences related to it, but on second thought, i wonder if i can use the 'blur' word in formal English.. i would try to find another word to replace it, hahah.. ah, ya, the comparison between Penang and my hometown is also great.. muchas gracias Ping Ping.. ;)

blur in formal english might be not attentive enough/not alert.. all of these r the words i hear often cos im also very blur one!! T_T

i think your shoppin experience could be interesting la. cos most ppl can relate to it. add some humour to it and i'm sure everyone will laugh =D sometimes shopping experience can be quite humourous.. hehe..

talking about bloggin as your fren Ping2 suggested is a good idea too.. u can talk about how ppl get to make money from it and etc.. how it can influence ppl..

:D thanks Ada for the translation... ya, so that is how to say blur in formal english.. ;) no lah you're not blur.. you know a lot of places in sibu leh, e.g: interesting places to visit. You are even fit to be the tourist guide..

my shopping experience, urm, just simple nia kot.. hehehe.. but maybe like u said, if put in a humorous style (like shopaholic story) it could be terrific kan.. hmm.. good suggestion.. *wink*

hmm yup, talking about blogging is interesting but since i haven't earn anything from it, i don't really can present it.. Ping Ping is the one who can talk about how to earn money there cause she earned from nuffnang already.. heheheheh..

last but not least, thanks a lot Ada for the suggestion ya.. very useful indeed.. ;D

ya, can talk abt the difference between home and here. the obvious difference dari segi makanan, kaum, gaya hidup, bahasa, dsb. how u adapt to it. wat do u think abt it? good or bad? relate to 1Malaysia. sure ppl will not yawn. i suppose a debate may even come up.

yup, Mel.. I think that is a great idea.. but i guess it deserved a duration longer than 3 minutes since there are many comparisons to be made.. and it involves a lot more facts than only what i know.. ugh, i wish i am more knowledgeable so that I can talk about many things spontaneously.. but i guess i have an idea now.. maybe i am going to talk about compulsive hoarder.. cause it's my own habit.. btw, thanks for all the suggestions.. :)
